In the United States it was released in 1926 as Old Scrooge. A British fantasy film directed by Leedham Bantock. It was the first time that actor Seymour Hicks played Ebenezer Scrooge on the big screen, having played him on the stage many hundreds of times since 1901. He reprised the role in Scrooge (1935), the first feature length adaptation of the Dickens novel in the sound era.
